Creating Flow and Enhancing Visibility
Our client was an innovative drug discovery company who have grown rapidly as a result of their success. The rapid growth put pressure on their IT support organisation to maintain excellence in their service delivery whilst expanding globally.
Project4 Learning Lab were approached to help the team to deliver their increased workload by enhancing the flow of work in the global team. We worked together on a plan to create flow using a Kanban system with the IT leadership team and enhance visibility using their Jira instance. Over the course of a month we ran 3 “Learning Sprints" with the whole team to rapidly deliver improvements whilst increasing their understanding of Kanban principles.
This resulted in all work being captured, prioritised and visible to everyone in a single place, Kanban principles being used on a daily basis across 3 continents to enable the flow of work and a shared team committed to making further improvements to increase throughput.

Our Learning
We really enjoyed this short, focused project and we were buoyed by the energy and commitment of the team that we were working with. We were pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of the Learning Sprints as a method to rapidly learn a new topic on a Monday morning, implement it in the business in the same week and reflect on the changes made on a Friday before making more improvements in the following week.
